In early 1983, Autodesk introduced the first version of AutoCAD on a personal computer (PC), supporting a variety of popular PC graphics cards. File formats

Text and dimensioning
Text is created by using the current layer, the base layer (usually named the Top layer), and any object that contains text. Text is not part of the 3D model and does not show up in the object’s Wireframe or 3D Visible layers.
